It then goes on, chapter by chapter, introducing various techniques to control it. I loved that the starting of the book clarifies that our inner voice is not inherently a demon, only when it gets out of control, thus producing chatter, do we need to exercise ways to control it. The fact that it does lets us experience, articulate, and plan to a whole new level. Because, if this voice in our heads is up to no good, it shouldn't have survived according to Darwin. The book is very well sectioned, starting off with why we have an inner voice in the first place. Ethan Kross, a psychology professor at my alma mater, University of Michigan, has a gamut of answers.
